Product overview
Textured HDPE (high-density polyethylene) geomembrane is an impermeable liner manufactured by co-extrusion, creating a uniform pattern of raised asperities on one or both surfaces. Available in single-side textured (SST) and double-side textured (DST) versions, it combines the proven impermeability, chemical resistance and durability of smooth HDPE with dramatically improved interface friction. This makes it the liner of choice for steep slopes, landfill side slopes, dam faces, heap leach pads and tailings dams where smooth liners risk slippage.

What is textured HDPE geomembrane?
Textured geomembrane is a kind of HDPE liner with rough embossed surface. It includes single-sided textured and double-sided textured types. Manufactured by co-extrusion technology, it greatly increases surface friction coefficient compared with smooth geomembrane.
What is the difference between smooth and textured geomembrane?
– Smooth geomembrane: smooth surface, low friction, good for flat bottom foundation, low-slope projects, easy welding. – Textured geomembrane: rough surface, high friction coefficient, anti-slip performance, designed for slope, steep bank, tailings pond lining. Welding operation needs more careful control.
Single textured vs double textured geomembrane, how to choose?
Single-sided textured geomembrane: one side textured, one side smooth. Mainly used for landfill slope, one side contacts soil/geotextile for anti-slip. Double-sided textured geomembrane: both sides are rough, higher friction on two sides. Suitable for steep slope, tailings pond, heap leach pad where both sides need friction resistance.
What projects use textured geomembrane?
Main applications: landfill slope lining, municipal solid waste landfill, tailings storage pond, mining heap leach pad, reservoir slope anti-seepage, canal steep slope, biogas digester side wall, hazardous waste containment projects.
What thickness textured geomembrane for landfill slope?
According to ASTM standard, 1.5 mm textured HDPE geomembrane is widely adopted for landfill slope; for high-risk steep slope and hazardous waste project, 2.0 mm double-textured HDPE geomembrane is recommended.
Can textured geomembrane be used for fish pond?
Not recommended for conventional aquaculture ponds. The rough surface may harm fish/shrimp. Smooth HDPE / LLDPE geomembrane is preferred for fish-shrimp farming. Textured liner is for slope anti-slip engineering rather than aquaculture.
What friction coefficient can your textured geomembrane reach?
Our textured HDPE geomembrane can achieve friction coefficient ≥0.45 against geotextile, effectively prevent liner sliding on steep slope, meet international landfill and mining engineering requirements. Test report can be provided.
Can textured geomembrane be hot-welded by hot wedge welder?
Yes. Textured HDPE geomembrane can be welded by automatic hot wedge welder and extrusion welder. The embossed texture on overlap area shall be removed before welding to get reliable welding seam.
Why need grinding before welding textured geomembrane?
The textured bumps will create gaps between overlapping sheets. Without grinding, incomplete fusion and leakage risk will occur. Grinding removes rough texture to obtain flat clean surface for hot welding.
Can textured geomembrane work on steep slope? What is the maximum slope gradient?
Textured geomembrane is designed for anti-slope application. The actual allowable slope depends on geotextile, base soil and project design. Normally it can work for slope ratio up to 1:2. Professional engineering calculation is required for steeper condition.
Does textured geomembrane need geotextile protection layer?
Yes. Textured surface improves friction, but cannot resist puncture. Non-woven geotextile is required as cushion and protection layer above and below geomembrane to avoid puncture by sharp stones.
What technical standards do your textured geomembrane comply with?

Is textured geomembrane more puncture-resistant than smooth geomembrane?
No. Textured treatment only increases surface friction coefficient. Puncture resistance mainly depends on raw material and thickness, not the rough texture. Protection geotextile is still required.
