Product overview
White geomembrane is mostly white HDPE liner, available in full-white or co-extruded dual-layer structure (white top skin + black core). It is manufactured from HDPE resin blended with titanium dioxide (TiO₂), antioxidant and light stabilizer via extrusion or co-extrusion process. Different from black geomembrane using carbon-black for UV absorption, white geomembrane reflects solar radiation to keep lower surface temperature. Defects, holes and welding seams are easy to detect by visual inspection.Titanium-dioxide pigment provides less native UV protection than carbon-black. UV-stabilized formulation is mandatory for long-term exposed service. Buried service life is comparable to black HDPE geomembrane.

What is white HDPE geomembrane?
White HDPE geomembrane is HDPE liner pigmented with titanium dioxide(TiO₂). Two common types: full-white and co-extruded white-on-black (white top surface, black HDPE core). It complies with GRI-GM13 standard. Unlike black geomembrane using carbon-black for UV protection, white geomembrane reflects sunlight.
What is the difference between white and black HDPE geomembrane?
Black HDPE uses carbon-black for excellent inherent UV resistance, suitable for long-term exposed landfill and mining projects. White HDPE uses titanium dioxide to reflect solar radiation, resulting in lower surface temperature and easy visual inspection. Its native UV resistance is weak; special UV-stabilized additive is required for outdoor exposed application. Mechanical performance is identical under same thickness.
Can white geomembrane be textured?
Yes. Smooth, single-sided textured and double-sided textured white HDPE geomembrane are available by co-extrusion technology.
What are main applications of white HDPE geomembrane?
Main applications: potable-water storage reservoirs, landscape artificial lakes, mining evaporation ponds, landfill capping cover, temporary containment ponds, industrial observation ponds. It is not recommended for primary liner of hazardous-waste and high-risk heap-leach projects without special formulation validation.
Is white geomembrane safe for drinking-water pond?
Yes. Food-grade formulation white HDPE geomembrane has no color leaching, suitable for potable-water storage projects. Please specify drinking-water grade while placing order.
Can white geomembrane be used for long-term fully-exposed outdoor condition?
Ordinary white geomembrane cannot sustain long-term direct UV exposure. UV-stabilized modified formula is mandatory for exposed projects. Buried covered installation does not require special UV modification.
Why choose co-extruded white-on-black geomembrane?
The white top layer provides low-temperature and visual-inspection advantage. Once surface is scratched or punctured, the black core will be exposed, making damage easy to spot during construction and maintenance.
Can white HDPE geomembrane be hot-welded? Which welding machines are compatible?
Yes. Weldable with hot-wedge welder, extrusion welder and hot air gun. Welding parameters are similar to black HDPE geomembrane; fine-tune temperature according to actual site ambient temperature.
Does white geomembrane need geotextile protection layer?
Yes. Same as black HDPE geomembrane, geotextile cushion is required above and below liner to avoid puncture by sharp stones and debris.
What is the service life of white HDPE geomembrane?
Buried covered condition: over 30 years. UV-stabilized formula for exposed condition: 10-14 years. Ordinary white geomembrane without UV additive is not suitable for exposed service.
What specification does your white HDPE geomembrane follow?
Complies with GRI-GM13 standard. Test reports for tensile, tear, puncture, OIT can be provided upon request.
How much lower is the surface temperature of white geomembrane compared with black geomembrane under sunlight?
