Smooth HDPE geomembrane is manufactured with high-density polyethylene resin as raw material via flat extrusion process, blended with functional additives including carbon black, antioxidants, anti-aging agents and UV stabilizers. Belonging to geosynthetic materials, it is the most widely used anti-seepage liner for solid waste landfills, tailings containment and water storage projects, with excellent water barrier and isolation performance.

Smooth type has flat surface with low friction coefficient, easier and faster welding, suitable for flat bottom and gentle slope. Textured one has granular surface with high friction coefficient for anti-slip, applied for steep slope. Smooth HDPE geomembrane has relatively lower cost.

Can smooth HDPE geomembrane be used under exposed outdoor condition?

Yes, please select UV-stabilized grade with antioxidant additives. Ordinary grade without UV additives is not recommended for long-term sunlight exposure, shall be covered by geotextile or soil.

How to choose thickness for smooth HDPE geomembrane?

Landscape & fish pond: 0.5-1.0mm; Normal water reservoir:1.0-1.5mm; Landfill, hazardous waste site, chemical tank, tailings pond:1.5-2.0mm; High-risk projects can adopt 2.5-3.0mm.

What HDPE liner thickness is used for landfill projects?

Mainly adopt double-track hot wedge welder, extrusion welder for repair work. Smooth surface helps stable weld formation, higher welding pass rate than textured geomembrane.

Can smooth HDPE geomembrane lay directly on crushed stone base?

Direct installation on crushed stone base is not recommended. Sharp gravel may easily puncture the geomembrane and cause leakage. It is strongly advised to lay geotextile as cushion and protection layer on both sides to prevent puncture damage and ensure long-term anti-seepage stability.
